Grandmaster Manoel Tavares Seminar – Oct 24th, 2015

Grandmaster Manoel will teach a seminar on Saturday October 24th from 11am-2pm at the Atlantic Beach main location (45-A Donner Road, Atlantic Beach). Manoel is a coral belt and the head instructor at Gracie Humaita Ilha in Rio. The 3 hour seminar will include lots of self-defense, takedowns and plenty of ground work. Robert and Matt demonstrate what Victor calls a “911 Armbar Defense” when your arm is in danger and you feel the leg about to go over your head. This defense can be used as a last-minute defense and requires you to intercept your opponent leg as it’s coming over your head.

Technique of the Month: Defend the double leg takedown and finish with standing guillotine

Victor twists back and to his left to make space for his left arm to swing back in front of Matt’s shoulder.

New Technique Breakdown: From Open Guard to Standup with Takedown

Charlie takes his left foot off the hip and uses his leg as a pendulum to help him sit up and hug Tom's right leg (he keeps his sleeve grip with his right hand).

Technique: Straight Ankle Lock from Standing Back Control

Step 2: Robert steps his right foot between Big Bus' base.
